About me &

My inspirations

The Story behind The Swara Project

Slow living and healthy nutrition have transformed my life, and are the main inspirations behind the natural way in which I want to share my knowledge with others.

Before health coaching and teaching yoga, I worked for many years in tourism in Canada, as a concierge in luxury hotels, enhancing guests’ experiences. Prior to this, I worked for banks, large corporations and retail stores. During this time, I traveled the world as much

as possible, looking for answers on how to live according to my own desires, dreams and instinctive pull towards nature.

One of the main drivers behind my self-development journey was to better understand, and heal, my health conditions – my skin, PCO's, scoliosis & leaky gut conditions. I have witnessed disease almost my entire life – my own, my grandfathers, and many others around me. Now, following my various studies, experiences of different lifestyles, diets and varied careers, I have come to believe that those who live a lifestyle different to that which their inner nature truly needs will be more prone to developing a disease. To me, a large cause of ill health is living with an unease in your soul, an uneasiness in your being. Today I am pulling all my knowledge together in order to help others by creating a haven of peace designed to serve those seeking healing and change.

What experiences nourished me and supported my lifestyle change during my healing journey?

* Travels across the globe, immersing myself in different cultures and lifestyles

* Living in community, sharing space and learning from others

* Enrolling in plant based courses all over the world, including the Natural Gourmet Institute in New York

* Attending permaculture initiation workshops in Thailand, Indonesia and India

* Studying at the integrative nutrition health coach program in New York

* Completing teacher training (500hrs) in Hatha & Yoga Therapy in India

* Studying Ayurveda through courses in Canada & India

* Learning from all practitioners I met along the way – in Naturopathy, Homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, Family Constellation, and many more.

Founder Sandy de Sousa developed the idea for The Swara Project following her own journey of self-discovery and healing… and one very clear vision.
